Bio
Michelle Cassel is a freelance multimedia producer based out of Los Angeles, CA., who specializes in documentary filmmaking. As visual journalist, Michelle has traveled the world capturing compelling stories and imagery, including prostitution in Cambodia, the Illegal wildlife trade in Burma, the 2004 tsunami recovery in Thailand, and most recently forced migration in Guatemala.
From 2007 to 2009 Michelle was a video journalist for the Naples Daily News, where she produced everything from breaking news videos to in-depth documentaries. In 2007, Michelle was a “Webby Award” honoree for her documentary, “Invasion of Our Lifetime,” a three-part series exploring the D-Day invasion through local veterans’ firsthand accounts on the front lines.
Michelle graduated in 2005 from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Ventura, Calif. with a Bachelor of Arts in visual journalism. There, she become inspired to produce films that help make progressive change.
Michelle is an advanced scuba diver and certified wildland firefighter. On her free time she loves to surf, hike, and hangĀ out with good friends and family.
